About MyZodiacSigns

Exploring the stars across cultures

Our Mission

Every civilization has looked up at the stars and found meaning. From the twelve signs of the Western zodiac to the animal years of the Chinese calendar, from the ancient wisdom of Vedic astrology to the tree-based symbolism of the Celtic tradition — humanity has always sought to understand itself through the cosmos.

MyZodiacSignswas created with a simple goal: to bring these diverse zodiac traditions together in one place, making them accessible, educational, and free for everyone. We believe that exploring how different cultures interpret the stars is not only fascinating — it's a window into our shared human heritage.

Who We Are

MyZodiacSigns is built by a small team of developers and astrology enthusiasts who share a passion for cultural diversity and the timeless human fascination with the stars. We combine modern web technology with careful research into each zodiac tradition to create an experience that's both accurate and delightful.

Our Editorial Approach

We take content accuracy seriously. Every zodiac system on MyZodiacSigns is researched using primary and scholarly secondary sources — from ancient texts like the Tetrabiblos, Brihat Parashara Hora Shastra, and the Popol Vuh to peer-reviewed works in archaeoastronomy, religious studies, and cultural anthropology. We cross-reference multiple sources before publishing and clearly distinguish between established historical facts, scholarly interpretation, and popular tradition.

Our content is reviewed for factual accuracy, cultural sensitivity, and clarity before publication. We are transparent about areas of scholarly debate — for example, the modern Celtic tree zodiac's relationship to ancient Druidic practice, or the synthetic nature of the published Native American zodiac system — because we believe honesty strengthens trust.

Our Expertise

Our team brings together expertise in software engineering, comparative religion, and cultural history. The zodiac calculation algorithms are built from first principles — implementing the actual astronomical and calendrical rules of each tradition (Julian Day conversions, lunisolar calendar computations, sidereal corrections, Tzolk'in day-count arithmetic) rather than using generic lookup tables.

Content for each zodiac system is written and reviewed by contributors with demonstrated knowledge of the relevant cultural tradition. We maintain a list of reference works for each system and update content when new scholarship becomes available.

Content Methodology

How We Create Content

  • Research: Each zodiac system page begins with research into primary sources, scholarly texts, and reputable reference works specific to that tradition.
  • Cross-referencing: Sign descriptions, date ranges, and cultural claims are verified against at least two independent sources before publication.
  • Cultural sensitivity: Content about indigenous traditions (Native American, Mayan) includes appropriate context about modern synthesis vs. authentic tribal knowledge.
  • Review cycle: Published content is reviewed periodically and updated when new information or corrections are identified.
  • Transparency: Where scholarly consensus is lacking or sources disagree, we note the ambiguity rather than presenting one view as definitive.
  • Disclaimer: We clearly state that zodiac information is for educational and entertainment purposes only — not life guidance.

⚠️ Important Disclaimer

This website is for entertainment and cultural exploration only. The zodiac information presented here should not be used to make life decisions — whether related to relationships, compatibility, career choices, or personal judgments about yourself or others.

As you can see from this website alone, there are 10 different zodiac systems from civilizations around the world, and they frequently contradict each other. The same person may be described as introverted in one system and extroverted in another, compatible with someone in one tradition and incompatible in the next. If astrology were a reliable science, these systems would agree — but they don't.

Furthermore, consider that twins born on the same day, at the same hour, in the same place — who would receive identical zodiac readings in every system — often grow up to have vastly different personalities, careers, and life paths. This alone is a powerful reminder that the stars do not determine who we are.

An Islamic Perspective on Astrology

In Islam, astrology (التنجيم) — the practice of claiming to predict the future or determine personality through celestial bodies — is clearly prohibited (haram). This is distinct from astronomy (علم الفلك), the scientific study of stars and planets, which Islam encourages as a means of reflecting on Allah's creation.

The core reason is that knowledge of the unseen (الغيب) belongs to Allah alone. No human, star, or planet can reveal what only the Creator knows.

From the Quran:

“Say: None in the heavens and the earth knows the unseen except Allah.” — Surah An-Naml (27:65)

“And with Him are the keys of the unseen; none knows them except Him.” — Surah Al-An'am (6:59)

From the Hadith:

“Whoever goes to a fortune-teller and asks him about something, his prayers will not be accepted for forty nights.” — Sahih Muslim

“Whoever goes to a fortune-teller and believes what he says has disbelieved in what was revealed to Muhammad (ﷺ).” — Musnad Ahmad, Abu Dawud

“The astrologers have lied, even if they happened to tell the truth.”

Islam's opposition to astrology stems from several principles:

  • Tawheed (Monotheism): Attributing influence or knowledge of the future to stars and planets undermines the belief that Allah alone controls all affairs and possesses knowledge of the unseen.
  • Risk of Shirk: Believing that celestial bodies have inherent power over human destiny can lead to associating partners with Allah (الشرك), which is the gravest sin in Islam.
  • False certainty: Astrology gives people a false sense of knowledge about the future, which can lead to misguided decisions and dependency on something other than trust in Allah
  • Deception: Astrologers claim knowledge they do not possess. Even when a prediction appears to come true, it is coincidence — not evidence of legitimate knowledge of the unseen.

We present zodiac traditions on this website purely as cultural and historical artifacts — a fascinating window into how ancient civilizations viewed the world. They are not guidance, and they should never replace faith, reason, or sound judgment.
